Employment History

 

In-house Graphic Designer/Web Designer, SHOKK (Full time); May 2009 – Present

 

• Design tasks include: developing the SHOKK brand both online and across all print marketing, ensuring constant web developments to carry the organisation forward supporting an expanding international portfolio

 

• I am responsible for the design development and web development of internal and external client based work, operating both as an In-house Designer and as a part of the SHOKK Design Agency

 

In-house Graphic Designer, Contemporary Urban Centre North West (Full time); Sep 2008 – May 2009

 

• Design tasks included: building signage such as wayfinding posters, on-site marketing including flyers for exhibitions and events, advertisements published in international art journals, exhibition preview cards, ‘What’s On’ guides for Novas Arts, weekly eFlyers, menus for in-House restaurants and a book to showcase the London Bridge Bankside CUC

 

• I have forged good working relationships with printers, suppliers and contractors on a number of projects for the CUC to date, as well as with colleagues within the organisation, ensuring projects are communicated cross departmentally before they go to print on time and are completed at a competitive rate

 

• I worked to incredibly tight and ever changing deadlines aswell as budgets and have proficient time management and organisational skills

 

Freelance Graphic Designer: The Bluecoat, Liverpool: Next Up: Liverpool Art Now Exhibition; Oct 2008 – Jan 2009

 

• I was commissioned to design the exhibition identity and graphics for Next Up: Liverpool Art Now, an exhibition showcasing Liverpool’s Artistic talents to wrap up the Capital of Culture Year

 

• I designed a lead graphic which worked across all marketing materials, including a high profile city-wide poster campaign, exhibition preview and announcement cards, eFlyers and exhibition introductory panel

 

• Additionally, I was commissioned to produce an exhibition catalogue showcasing the work of the 38 artists exhibiting which I produced on time and on budget

 

• The project required impeccable organisation skills whilst liaising closely with The Bluecoat gallery and marketing departments to very tight deadlines, and I produced a campaign that adhered to the original brief and has been well received by the client and artists alike

 

Freelance Graphic Designer: Ultimate Holding Company; Aug 2008 - Nov 2008

 

• I have worked on a number of challenging interventionist projects with UHC for clients such as Greenpeace, Owl Project and I Bike MCR

 

• I managed a brief commissioned by Owl Project to produce a sympathetic piece of direct mail in accordance to their unique ilog product

 

• I devised a viral campaign to raise awareness of the 2009 I Bike MCR festival, engaging directly with the cyclists of Manchester by designing a bespoke, interventionist flyer that attached to the city’s bikes

 

• I worked on a brief for Greenpeace to produce a sticker campaign which directly addressed the consumer, informing them of unethical fishing techniques

 

Freelance Graphic Designer: Human Rights Without Frontiers; June 2008

 

• I was commissioned to design a two-part poster series produced for two Non Government Organisations (NGOs), highlighting their work with orphans in Nepal

 

• The posters contributed to raising awareness of the charity, generating vital funds for the continued work at a fundraiser in 2008

 

Graphic Design Internship: Smiling Wolf; Feb 2008 – April 2008

 

• I developed the seasonal brochure for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

 

• I developed logotype proposals and website developments for various Arts Organisations

• I built a website for the graduating Nottingham Trent Interior Architecture and Design class of 2007 using Adobe Flash and Actionscript

 

Graphic Design Placement: Rareform London; August 2006

 

• My placement with Rareform involved working on securing an advertising campaign and potential re-brand for an international Energy Traders

 

Graphic Design Placement: Creative Interpartners; September - October 2005

 

• This placement involved developing the identity of a structural engineering company and developing and designing brochure proposals for jewellery companies and designers.

 

Technical Skills

 

I am a proficient user of all desktop publishing software spanning the Adobe Creative Suite range (CS2,3,4), QuarkXpress, Microsoft Office and have a burgeoning commercial experience of web-based software such as Dreamweaver: HTML and CSS, Javascript and Actionscript.
